4th Annual Meth@Mig Workshop – Call for Contributions published
I’m excited to share that we are now accepting contributions for the 4th Annual Meth@Mig Workshop „Between Data and Dialogue: Focusing on Participants in Migration Research“. This event is jointly organized by IMISCOE’s Methodological Approaches and Tools in Migration Research Standing Committee and Yolanda López García, Junior Professor for Intercultural Practice with a Focus on Digital Cultures at Chemnitz University of Technology.
The workshop will take place on April 3-4, 2025, in Chemnitz, Germany (which also happens to be the European Capital of Culture 2025!).
What’s the Workshop About?
In migration research—and social research more broadly—how we involve participants can make a huge difference. Whether participants are simply providing data or actively shaping the research, their role impacts everything from data quality to ethics. This workshop will dive into these dynamics, looking at traditional methods (qualitative, survey-based, mixed) and newer approaches (like digital data and AI).
Our keynote speaker will be Tuba Bircan from Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Who Should Contribute?
We’re looking for contributions from scholars from all career stages and with any methodological approach. If your work explores the role of participants in research, we’d love to hear from you! Note that all contributions must have a clear focus on research methodology.
A Few Practical Things
This will be a fully in-person event, which means there are no hybrid or online options. The submission deadline for abstracts is December 8, 2024.
